Fillings and Sealants

At Oasis Dental we place only composite restorations that bond a tooth-colored resin material directly to the tooth. For posterior restorations, Dr. Linda Gherman uses a special sonic-activated system that ensures the material is adequately placed without voids for improved bonding with the tooth. She then hardens the resin with a curing light and polishes/adjusts the filling to your bite. With our system, the restorations have very little post-operative sensitivity, and greater durability.

Sealants are thin resin layers placed onto the chewing surface of posterior teeth, such as molars and premolars, to prevent them from decay. They are a minimally invasive preventative procedure for which patients do not have to be anesthetized. Most cavities begin in the deep pits and fissures of the back teeth, which may be difficult to keep clean. Sealants are often recommended for children when permanent teeth erupt, a time when enamel is particularly susceptible to decay. However, depending on dietary habits, medical history, oral care, sealants may be indicated for adults as well. Dr. Gherman will consider each case individually and recommend sealants when needed.
